Two-Faced Cow Sold to Slaughterhouse: A Unique Encounter in Australia

While visiting a cattle ranch in Mareeba, North Queensland, Australia on Tuesday, cattle dealer Mark Peter came across a peculiar sight—a two-faced cow being sold between its owners and a slaughterhouse. Despite its deformed appearance, this castrated cow remains completely healthy.

The cow’s second face does not develop next to its main face but rather overlaps directly in front. In addition to a single eye and tooth, it still possesses properly functioning nostrils. Mr. Peter stated that besides the monstrous face, this cow showed no signs of weak health, but quite the opposite—it was very fat.

Its first owner, Mr. Jack “Jacko” Shephard, mentioned that, contrary to expectations, the two-faced cow has garnered the attention of many people. Throughout his 17 years of working as a herder, he had never encountered such a deformity, although he had come across various other forms of deformities in cows before.

Weighing 440kg, the cow was sold for 537 Australian dollars (equivalent to 8.7 million VND). However, the future of this two-faced cow does not seem bright as it has been sold to a slaughterhouse.

This unusual encounter highlights the unpredictable nature of life on the ranch and the diversity of the creatures that inhabit it. It serves as a reminder that even in the face of deformities, animals can still thrive and maintain their overall well-being. While the destiny of this particular cow may be disheartening, it prompts us to reflect on the ethical questions surrounding the treatment of animals and the potential need for more compassionate practices in the future.
